Ryhope are now clear leaders of Division Two of the Durham League after a convincing seven-wicket win at Langley Park where John Minnis (61 from 52 balls) and Connor Pearson (48 not out from 46 balls) propelled their side to victory within 29 overs as they chased down a target of 178.

At the same time Seaham Park, Whiteleas and Marsden were all drawing with the result that Ryhope now hold a healthy 15-point advantage as leaders.

Siddharth Chitnis (82 and 3-17) almost inspired Seaham Park (189-7) to victory at Littletown (160-9), but their last pair couldn’t be shifted as stalemate was reached. Whiteleas had it all to do to prevent a hammering by Marsden in the local derby, the home team ending on 104-8 when set a target of 214-5.

There was a first win of the season for Peterlee, Aaron Shellie and Ben Green sharing six wickets as Houghton were bowled out for 149, and then John Kemp (62) timing the run chase to perfection to lift his side away from the danger zone and leave Houghton rooted in bottom spot.
