ADAM Dawson’s unbeaten 50 from 48 balls led Hetton Lyons to victory against Sacriston in the group stages of the Durham Cricket Board’s Fred Blunt Under-18 Trophy.
Dawson was backed by 39 from Josh Coughlin and 29 from Cameron Grimwood in a match-winning 165-2, with Dominic Scott and Connor Clough picking up the wickets.
Sacriston batted the full innings without losing a wicket in their reply, but they fell 77 runs short despite an unbeaten 50 from Daniel Stephenson and Nathan Hall’s knock of 30.
Burnmoor conceded to Eppleton.
Horden enjoyed a seven-wicket victory over Seaham Harbour in the South East Division.
The match was reduced to 15 overs per side due to rain, with the Harbour lads posting 102-5. Gavin Strong top-scored with 36, backed by 34 from Caleb Lowerson-Marshall and 15 not out from Elliot Leslie. Kane Iceton picked up two wickets for Horden, with one apiece from Robinson and McCoy.
Iceton hit an unbeaten 60, which included six fours and a six, to lead Horden to victory in 13.5 overs. Lewis Broom scored 20, while Hall hit 13. Dylan Beacon bagged two wickets for Harbour, with James Lamb picking up the other.
Eppleton Under-13s outgunned Washington by 10 wickets in the Central Division Cup.
Eppleton won the toss and elected to field, bowling Washington out for just 49 in 16 overs.
Layla Tipton (2-0) and Edward Brown (2-14) struck for Eppleton, who knocked off Washington’s total in eight overs, with Callum Smiles hitting an unbeaten 27, backed by 17 from Tipton.
