Chester-le-Street cruise into national Royal London semi-finals

Chester-le-Street have clinched a semi-final place in the Royal London National Club Championship – after comfortably dismissing Cheshire Premier League club Bowdon.

The quarter-final of the last eight of the National 45-over competition at Ropery Lane saw Chester post a mammoth 311-8, led by 87 from youngster George Harrison.

Simon Birtwisle weighed in with 52, swhile Chris Martin (40) and Andrew Smith (46) offered good support. Bowdon were then bowled out for 157 as Birtwisle grabbed 4-29 and Gareth Wade 3-57.
