SUNDERLAND ran Boldon extremely close last week, losing out by just nine runs, but they didn’t see their overseas player Bravesh Shetty as he didn’t arrive in time to play.
And with Jaspreet Singh having moved on to Stockton after just a week or so back at the club, they are in need of some positive news.
However, their chance to secure their first victory should come on Saturday as their hosts, South Hetton, are anchored to the foot of the Division One table after a horror batting show at Felling last week.
Stuart Walker gave them a bit of leather chasing to do, but South Hetton added to their own problems by dropping him on a couple of occasions, the most costly coming when he had scored just four.
Even so, a target of 228 was not insurmountable, and when they reached 33 without loss hope sprang eternal.
But then the wheels came off big style, with all 10 wickets crashing for the addition of just 12 more runs.
South Hetton make two enforced changes for the visit of Sunderland, with youngsters Nathan Adamson and Alex Nicholson handed an opportunity with Luke Lang and Dan Douglas unavailable.
