SUNDERLAND Under-15s celebrated their first win of the season, securing a five-wicket Durham Cricket Board Central Division success at Philadelphia.

Sunderland won the toss and put Phili into bat, bowling them out for just 47 in 17 overs with Joe Stuart picking up 3-10, backed by 2-1 from Sam Brigham and Aidan Dixon.

Brigham then hit an unbeaten 25 to lead Sunderland to victory in 15 overs, finishing on 48-5. Lewis Carney was the pick of Phili’s bowlers, bagging 3-10

Chester-le-Street finished their season with a 61-run victory over Eppleton.

Charlie Ord dismissed Joe Riley with the first ball of Chester’s innings, but Vairbahav Tiwari’s unbeaten 46 from 58 balls, backed by 33 apiece from James Wilson and Josh O’Brien led the visitors to 143-2, with Nyle Davis and Liam Smiles both grabbing wickets.

Eppleton fell short in their reply, making 82-4 despite Smiles’ 31 not out and 23 from Ord. Riley, Jake Ellerington and Kyle Dodds all took wickets.

Washington overcame Hetton Lyons by 69 runs.

First-teamer Matthew Potts (51), Liam Hickey (52) and Raj Singh (27no) steered the Harraton outfit to 160-2, but Lyons could only reply with 91-6, Alex Storey top-scoring on 37. Potts and Ben Chadwick grabbed three wickets apiece.

In the South East Division, Easington secured a 51-run victory over South Hetton.

Matthew Wray (45no) and Connor Williams (34) led Easington to 129-6, before South Hetton were restricted to 78-6, with Cameron Sykes hitting an impressive, unbeaten half-century.

Murton 79-4 (L Thompson 51no), Ryhope 80-1.

Thompson’s unbeaten 51 led Murton to 79-4, but Ryhope eased home by nine wickets.
