THE remaining Sunderland & District Champion of Champions competition has been played to the finals stage.
The main final will see Steven Copeland (Usworth) face Alan Patterson (Grindon Mill).
In the semi-finals, Copeland defeated Hetton Workmen’s Richard Curry while Patterson recovered from 17-14 down to defeat Barnes Park’s Albie Hill 21-17.
Should Patterson win the final, it will be the first time in the 83 years of the competition that a current Association President takes the title.
In the Seniors final, Silksworth’s Bobby Rollason will face Barnes Park’s Tommy Jopling.
In the semi-finals, Rollason defeated Hetton Workmen’s Peter Harding 21-13 while Jopling defeated Ryhope’s Billy Wilson 21-13.

H The Durham County Ladies B team’s hope of retaining the Stella Logan title suffered a near-fatal blow as they went down by six shots to Yorkshire at Scarborough.
With one game left to play, Durham need an unlikely run of results in other games to have a chance of retaining the title.
Durham entertain leaders Cumbria in the final game.
H The final of the Ladies County double fours saw Consett Park defeat Houghton Dairy Lane 36-32.
This was the second year on the trot for Dairy Lane to taste defeat in the final.
H Next weekend will see the Northern Counties Championship’s take place at Kirkbride BC Cumbria.
Locally, the newly-crowned National fours champions Silksworth’s Phil Dixon, Neal Ridley, Ian Riches and David Bolt will return to action.
Having missed the preliminary tie, the Silksworth quartet could have a semi-final clash against Yorkshire’s Nigel Brignall which would be a repeat of the recent national final at Leamington.
H The final standings in the Grindon League have been released. This year’s champions are last year’s runners-up Silksworth. who take the title by 5½ points from Usworth, the defending chmapions Houghton Dairy Lane finished seventh.

H As the outdoor season starts to grind to a halt, thoughts will turn to the indoor scene.
Sadly, the Sunderland club are still no further forward in locating a replacement venue for Crowtree although officials have a meeting with the council on September 29.
However, the Sunderland club will still function out of Houghton.
Anyone wishing to be considered for the veteran’s teams or the Inter County teams will need to renew their membership fee (£5) to the club secretary. Any other previous member of the club can also renew their membership if they desire.
