Burdis and Garvin help Whitburn demolish Pennywell

WHITBURN bounced back to form with a 5-0 win against Pennywell B in the first division of the Westoe Removals Sunderland Snooker League.

Steve Burdis took the first frame before Phil Freeman had a 36-break in winning the second.

Paul Garvin and John Smith took the next two before Burdis and Garvin sealed the result in the pairs.

Hylton kept up the chase with a good 4-1 against Mill View B.

Bob Boyce was outstanding in the first for Hylton before Steve Chandler replied for Mill View.

Norman Leslie was comfortable in the third, while Darren Browne started like a train in the fourth, but faced a comeback before winning on the pink. Hylton then won the pairs.

Biddick A kept Green Baize at bay by winning 3-2.

Mike Riley, Dave Adamson and Graham Smith took the first three frames before Jeff Burn came to the rescue in winning the fourth and twinning with Kane in winning the pairs.

Seaham Knack beat Farringdon A 3-2. Hazard and Stewart claimed the pairs for Farringdon.

Washington Snooker A are climbing the table after a 4-1 win against the Avenue. Mark Bell claimed the second after Trevor Herbert took the first.

Gary Moore made it 2-1 before Washington restored the lead in the fourth. Herbert and Rutland took the pairs out of distance of the Avenue.

Mill View A recovered from losing the first frame against Hylton B by taking the last four frames.

Keith Johnston, Paul Jenkins, Peter Davies won their singles and the recovery was completed as the Burnell’s took the pairs.

Pennywell A only had three players, but scored the maximum points with a 4-1 win against Woodside A.

Steve O’Wellen won the first frame. A 27 clearance by Joe Turner took the second and Mark Anderson took his singles and joined Turner in the pairs.

Steels has a 3-2 away win at Woodside B and are moving away from the relegation positions.

Cheemas C lost top spot in the second division even though they won 3-2 against Farringdon B.

Colin Wrathmall beat Mark Farnsworth in the first before Stephen Thompson levelled in the second.

Paul Kirsop won a hard fought third 64-55, before Stephen Scott responded for Farringdon. Mason and Kirsop took the deciding pairs for Cheemas.

Washington B took top place when beating Cheemas A 4-1.

Murton Officials saw off the challenge from Pennywell Coms C with Robin Midson winning the first 55-52 against Michael Burnikell.

Harland Davison came from behind to win the second, and a 24 break was the deciding factor in the fourth leading to a 4-1 success.

A good game between Glendale and Biddick B saw Biddick lead 3-1 on the singles before Danby and Bell took the pairs for Glendale.

Washington Union was leading 2-1 in the singles, before a response from Seaham Cons saw them claim the last two frames for a 3-2 victory.

St Gabriel’s lost 4-1 against Washington C which saw Tony Grimes as their only winner in the second after John Hall had a 34 break in the first for Washington.

Cheemas B and Murton Vic shared the singles before Williamson and Dobson took the deciding pairs for Murton.

A strong performance by the Railway took them to 4-1 success against the Victory.
