UNBEATEN boxer Ian Turnbull will fight in Sunderland tomorrow night on the latest North East Executive Sporting Club bill.
The 25-year-old Ashington middleweight, will take on the experienced Alex Spitko of Mansfield over six two-minute rounds at the Pulman Lodge in Seaburn.
Also on the bill will be a light-middleweight contest between Michael Smith of Dewsbury and Ryan Clark of Waddington.
Promoter Tommy Conroy, who also managers Turnbull, will be keeping a close watch on the unbeaten boxer’s performance.
He said: “It’s a tough one for Ian.
“Spitko’s a veteran and an excellent journeyman. I’d expect Ian to win but he’ll have to watch Spitko because he’s an experienced pro and he fights like a pit bull.”
Guest speaker for the night is something of a coup for the club, getting Dave ‘Boy’ Green to travel up to the North East for a talk.
Green is a former British and European welterweight champion who twice fought for world titles, taking on Carlos Palomino and all-time great Sugar Ray Leonard.
Tickets for the show are priced £55 and anyone interested in going should contact the club on 07850 434457.
