LEE Mould is to fight for the vacant English welterweight title next month when he takes on Adam Little in Blackpool.

The unbeaten Sunderland boxer will be going into his rival’s backyard when he do battle on Saturday, June 27.

But 10 rounds at the Hilton Hotel against the boxer known as “Big Man” will not faze Mould and his team.

The Mal Gates-trained boxer has already smashed hometown title ambitions in his career, beating Craig Dixon in Gateshead last November to lift the Northern Area title.

That extended his unbeaten run to eight contests and lifted “Lightning” Lee onto the title ladder.

Little also won a belt last time out, outpointing Sheffield’s Ryan Hardy to land the vacant Central Area welterweight title in Blackpool last December.

The 24-year-old has won all 12 of his bouts, stopping two opponents.

Mould also has two stoppage wins and will be full of confidence, coming from the undefeated Gates gym in South Shields.

Last time out, the Harton & Westoe Miners Welfare team were celebrating Anthony Nelson’s Commonwealth title triumph at the Metro Radio Arena.

“To be the best you have got to keep stepping up in levels,” said Gates.

“The last time Lee fought, he took an unbeaten record and won the Northern Area Title.

“Now we go to Blackpool to take on the unbeaten Adam Little, a massive fight for Lee and our gym.”
