North East youngsters take on Ireland’s finest

THE finest young schoolboy boxers in the North East are set to do battle with their opposite numbers from Ireland at the Rainton Meadows Arena this weekend.

The youngsters will meet in the ring on Sunday, when Tyne, Tees and Wear Boxing hosts bouts with opposite members from Dublin.

Boxing starts at 1pm in the Houghton venue, with entry £10 for adults and £5 for children.

The bouts scheduled involve boxers born in 2002: J O’Donnell v P Talontino (Darlington); K Sheridan v B Morrison (Birtley); C Mongan v PJ Holmes (Newbiggin); J Rapple v CL Quinn (Horden); C Ward v M Mcguigan (Newbiggin); S Leonard v J Harkins (Newbiggin); M Tyndall v J Stevens (Lambton Street); W Hayden v R Suleman (Nat, progression).

Boxers born in 2001: R Dunne v M Ryder (Gus Robinson); L Murphy v L Clary (South Shields); A Coyne v S McAuley (Bishop Auckland); M O’Donnell v E Stonehouse (Spennymoor); M Myers v J Lepoidevin (Aycliffe); K Reddin v O Watson (Dunston)

Boxers born in 2000: M Mari v J Babbs (Ward Degnans); D Doyle v J Thomas (South Durham); E Larkin v L Thornton (Spennymoor); J Kennedy v C Geraldi (Birtley); FM McDonalgh v C Stout (Shildon); F O’Donnell v J Tyres (Newbiggin), P O’Leary v J McMeekin (Shildon).
