He received a bye in the semi-final, setting up a final clash with Conor Kirkup from Howdon ABC.

He had control, boxing behind a good jab to win the North East title impressively, allowing him to move onto the next round, on Saturday, when he will take on Sam Byram, from Beartown ABC in Congleton, Cheshire.

Dylan Atcheson boxed in the Class A 75kg quarter-final, comfortably beating Gary Grey, from Horden ABC, with some brilliant boxing. Back in the ring, the next day Atcheson took on Liam Teruel in an all-out war.

He claimed a unanimous verdict after an excellent performance and now boxes Karl Turner in the final tomorrow, on Sunderland ABC’s Steels Club show.

Jamie Atcheson moved up in weight to box in the Class B under-20 category at 69kg. He fought Redcar’s Jon Quinn over three three-minute rounds and got the nod in every round.

He boxed to orders, never giving the tricky southpaw a second’s rest. Jamie next faces Sean Blake in tomorrow’s final at Steels.

Nathan Gransbury received a bye straight to the Class A 66kg final. Up against T. Finnilison of Northumbria Fire ABC, Gransbury was thought by some observers to have clinched victory, but, in a very close fight, he lost a narrow decision.
