TICKETS are now on sale for Isaac Macleod’s professional debut next month in Sheffield, writes ROY KELLY.
The Sunderland fighter will box for the first time at the Nerves of Steel Show at Hillsborough Leisure Centre on Saturday, December 13.
It is an exciting time for Macleod, one of this country’s brightest amateur stars, who has signed for Queensberry Promotions, the company run by the Warren family.
“I now have the tickets and they are starting to fly out already,” said the former World junior silver medallist, who is boxing out of Anthony Farnell’s Manchester gym. “I can’t wait.
“I want to put myself and Sunderland on the map and this is the first step.
“There is no opponent yet but I’ve been told I will be boxing at 10st 8lbs so I’m working hard in the gym.
“It’s a big show and should be a great night.”
Macleod turned pro in September after a glittering junior career which included five English titles, three British plus the European gold plus that World silver.
The former Sunderland ABC fighter had just two senior bouts in the amateurs and decided to join the paid ranks, aged 19.
Macleod’s debut features on a show staged by Sheffield fight figure Dennis Hobson and Macleod’s boss, Francis Warren.
Fight Night Events stage a triple title fight show at the Hillsborough venue.
“Dennis and I will be working on four shows together between now and July, with all of them televised live on Box Nation,” explained Warren.
“We’ve worked together well in the past and I’m really excited to be teaming up together again.
“And this Sheffield show is shaping up to be a great night from the headliner, all the way down through the rest of the card.”
Top of the bill will be WBO European lightweight title defence by Stephen Ormond in a potential thriller against Terry Flanagan.
