LEE Mould may have seen his hopes of landing his first Northern Area title this weekend dashed – but he is still ready to put on a big show.
Wearsider Mould, who boxes out of the Harton & Westoe Miners’ Welfare Gym in South Shields, is part of the bill at tomorrow’s Summer Rumble at Sunderland’s Stadium of Light.
He had been due to take on Gary Fox for the Northern Area light-welterweight belt, only for his opponent to pull out with a hamstring injury.
The 24-year-old will now come up against former sparring partner and stable-mate John Watson, with Mould having to step up to welterweight for the non-title fight.
He is determined to turn on the style at the home of his footballing heroes, having put his title disappointment to one side.
Mould said: “I’m at the Stadium of Light all the time watching the football, as it’s my club.
“That is an added bonus to this fight, and it would have been a dream to win the area title there.
“I’ve been through some really tough training, though, and it’s great to still be on the bill. I’ve been in the gym since Christmas, and everything has been perfect.”
