The Duck had its wings clipped as they suffered their first defeat when at home to South Hylton B in the second division.
Sean Defty had a 20 break in the first frame to give the leaders a start before Gary Andrews levelled in the second. Eddie Norton had a resounding result in the third to take Hylton ahead and that was increased as Chris Watkins took the fourth.
It
could have been worse for The Duck, as the pairs was rescued 49/40 to keep the loss to a single frame.
Murton Vic were the high flyers with a 5-0 win away at the Victory Club which put them into third. Robin Midson took the opening frame with an emphatic 76/13 score followed by Jimmy Ashcroft with a 55/39 against Ray James.
Kev Cunningham kept the ball rolling in the third before Robert Taylor took a hard fought fourth 59/49. The first two winners combined to take the pairs 60/48.
St Gabriel's hit form with a 4-1 against Washington Union with Steve Hagel winning 63/59 in the first frame. Tony Grimes dominated in winning the second before Bill Butch pulled one back for Washington. Bill Longley restored the lead in the fourth and twinned with Hagel in winning the pairs 48/40.
The Railway visited Seaham Cons and had a 4-1 success, winning two close frames. Joe Beston won the first before Fred Warren took the second 49/41. Gordon Elliot claimed the third for Seaham before Norman Lynn of the Railway took the fourth 60/55. Flynn/Warren completed the night's play by taking the pairs 56/20.
The First Division is proving more competitive this season as five teams are in a close band at the top of the table with Hylton A still holding top place after all the teams had 4-1 successes.
Hylton had a good start as Norman Leslie had a tussle in the first beating Ritchie Milner of Shields Snooker 60/42. Bob Boyce was at his best in winning the second 64/8 and Dave McGuire had breaks of 29 and 22 in taking the third.
Ken Bradley is improving with age and showed his excellence with a 46/8 success in the fourth.
Farringdon A had a 4-1 win against Mill View A with Ryan McKenna taking the first and Paul Jenkins levelling in the second 76/44.
A tough third frame went to Ian Stuart in beating Peter Davies 61/60 to put Farringdon back into the lead and that was increased as Mick McLoughlin took the fourth. A pairs success completed the night for the home team.
Whitburn seem to have found a settled team with the addition of Craig Barron and are holding their place at the top. Ernie Lunney took the first before Barron, with breaks of 44 and 22, increased the lead in the second.
A spirited reply from Ken Haley with a 62/30 success opened up the game but it was short lived as John Smith, with breaks of 29 and 22, restored the lead. Rodgers/White took the pairs for Whitburn.
Green Baize had to come from behind as Gary Stockton of Seaham Knack took the first frame.
Tom Feenan had breaks of 37 and 26 as he scored 103 points in the first frame for Steels against Pennywell Comrades B. Adam Smith took the second before Dean Taylor pulled one back with a 56/51 success in the third. Chris Cowie restored the lead and Steels took the pairs for a 4-1 victory.
Farringdon B took the first three frames against Mill View B with their players in fine form and inspired by Paul Grant who had a 32 break in his singles. Norman Brown pulled one back for the Mill before their pairs team restricted the defeat to 3-2 loss.
