Sunderland continue to be linked with an interest in Manchester United contract rebel Wes Brown, who has refused to sign a new deal at Old Trafford.
United seem resigned to losing the versatile defender and are expected to cash in on Brown during the January transfer window rather than risk losing him for nothing when he falls out of contract at the end of the season.

Brown, 28, has been capped 14 times by England, his last international appearance coming in the 1-0 friendly win in Austria last month.
