"We were very unlucky to lose," said chairman Owen Haley. "It would have been nice to have a good cup run but the league is our bread and butter and we're going all out for promotion."

Sunderland Nissan hope to make it four wins out of four at Dunston Fed in tonight's top Division One game.

"If you take pre-season into account, we have won nine games on the bounce, which is a good start," said secretary Rob Jones.

Neil Tarrant misses out tonight, but Stuart Banks, who sat out Saturday's FA Cup win at Horden with a calf injury, is expected to come into the reckoning.

Chester-le-Street hand a debut to Damien Maw, signed yesterday from Sunderland RCA, at newly-promoted South Shields. Andy Armstrong is added to a full squad. Chairman Joe Burlison was disappointed with Chester's FA Cup exit at Bedlington, but said: "We deserved a replay. We played some good football but lacked a cutting edge in front of goal."
