"I'm delighted for them," admitted Keane. "It was great to see David get off the mark at Forest, when the ball fell to him I just knew he was going to score.

"Some strikers just have that instinct, that killer touch - David showed that at Forest and Djibril did at Tottenham.

"Any player that goes to a new club wants to do well, but particularly strikers, and we're delighted they're off the mark - hopefully there'll be many more goals to come."

Keane has brought in nine new players this summer, but he's confident he'll get at least one more signing in before the close of the transfer window on Monday, as well as moving some players out on loan.

"I'm hopeful that we can add one more player to the squad," he said. "Hopefully we can get a deal done, but I've got to look at players going out as well.

"It wouldn't be the end of the world if I stick with the players I've got. But one or two players, particularly those just coming back from injuries, could do with going out and getting one or two games."

Keane admits time has flown since his unveiling as Sunderland's new manager at a packed press conference on August 29, 2006.

"It does seem like yesterday when I took the job," said Keane. "I'm happy enough with the progress we've made, but a lot of credit has to go to everyone connected to the club - the backroom staff, the supporters.

"We're not getting carried away, we know there's a lot of hard work ahead, but we're making nice progress."
