The battle is on for league and cup honours as the Sunderland Schools season nears its finale.
In the Under-12s red league, Southmoor and St Aidan's A lead the way with one game each left. Saints outgunned Farringdon 5-2 before being held 1-1 by Monkwearmouth and sharing the spoils with Southmoor (1-1).

Southmoor have won three of their las
t four games, beating Monkwearmouth 2-1, Thornhill 9-0 and Castle View 1-0.

Both Monkwearmouth and Farringdon have a chance of catching the top two if they win their games in hand.

Pennywell face Southmoor in their city cup semi-final, with the winners to meet Monkwearmouth at the Academy of Light on April 4.

In the Under-13s red league, impressive leaders Southmoor are yet to drop a point. They maintained their 100 per cent record with convincing wins against Pennywell (5-1) and Thornhill (4-0).

Houghton Kepier suffered heavy defeats to Monkwearmouth (9-1) and Thornhill (5-1), while second-top Farringdon continued their fine form with a 4-0 defeat of Pennywell. Thornhill also pipped 4-2 in a much more even encounter.

The Under-14s city cup final will see St Aidan's up against Farringdon or Thornhill at the Academy of Light on Friday, April 4.

Saints defeated Venerable Bede 3-0 in their semi. St Aidan's deservedly stormed 3-0 up by half-time, though Bede competed much better after the break, without threatening to score.

In the league, Venerable Bede returned to winning ways against Houghton Kepier, with Adam Minto's excellent, early strike securing victory. Bede created a host of chances and then survived a Kepier fightback, with keeper Alban Morrison pulling off some vital late saves.

Kepier also beat Hylton Red House 8-2 and Seaham 5-4.

In the Under-15s red league, Thornhill maintained their 100 per cent league record with a convincing 4-0 win at Seaham.

Seaham bounced back with an impressive 3-2 victory at Houghton Kepier, while Houghton defeated Castle View 1-0.

In the white league, Hetton maintained their excellent start with a emphatic 5-0 win at Southmoor.

Farringdon meet Houghton Kepier in the Under-15s city cup final at the Academy of Light tomorrow.

It looks like being a close finish in the Under-16s league.

Southmoor suffered a first defeat, 2-1 to unbeaten Hylton Red House, who have a fixture backlog.
