Teemu Tainio says Sunderland have to forget about the boost that beating the Baggies gave the club last weekend.
And he says instead the Black Cats have to focus on giving Hull hell tomorrow.

The Finnish international played a pivotal role in helping Sunderland to a 4-0 victory over West Brom last Saturday.

And he was as delighted as anyone to see the victory put Sunderland in a strong position to move out of the relegation zone this weekend.

But he says that one win is no cause for celebrations and that it is vital that the club builds on that victory in the weeks ahead.

"Consistency has been our problem all season," he reflected.

"It was great that we beat West Brom last week but that was only one win and the last thing I want is to be talking about that win, only to find that we lose the next game and the next game after that.

"If you look at our season, we've tended to win a game and then maybe lose three, or four, or five afterwards.

"We don't want that, and that's why I don't want to dwell too much on the West Brom game.

"If we go to Hull and win there, then it's two wins in a row, we start to climb the table, and then maybe we've got something to talk about.

"But for now I don't think now is a time to talk, I think now is a time to put all our energies into giving Hull as hard a game as possible."

The Tigers have been the talk of the Premier League this season.

They were everyone's tip to finish bottom of the table and no one gave them a chance of not ending the campaign in the relegation zone.

But with the New Year just around the corner, Hull are closer to a top four finish than they are to a berth in the bottom three.

Tainio admits that the Humberside team can no longer be seen by anyone as a flash in the pan.

He said: "Hull have had an amazing season so far.

"No one thought they would start as well as they did.

"And when they did make that great start and they were in the top half of the table, no one gave them a hope of keeping that up.

"But they have continued to pick up points and they have continued to get good wins.

"And I think we are now well past the point where people can talk about them maybe being a bit lucky. They are where they are because they deserve to be there and we have to go to their place respecting that fact.

"I have never played against Hull City but it is clear that they are opponents who will make it tough for us. But I am excited about the game and I'm really looking forward to it.

"We have very good players here and a good team and I think you saw a little bit of what we are capable of in last week's game against West Brom.

"I had not realised that that was the biggest home win in the Premier League that Sunderland have had at the Stadium of Light.

"But it does not surprise me that this team is capable of a result like that, because I know how good the players are.

"That's what makes tomorrow's game against Hull so interesting. We know we can't underestimate them and we know it could be yet another great result for them in a great season for Hull.

"But we also know that we can do better as a team than we have done previously and hopefully we'll show against Hull, as we did against West Brom, what we are capable of.

"We've got to look at going there, first to make sure that we don't lose the game, but we also know that there is no reason why we can't win the game and if we do win, then that will be something to talk about."
