Steven Taylor has given Newcastle boss Kevin Keegan a lift by declaring himself fit to face Bolton on Saturday – despite pulling out of tonight's England's Under-21 friendly.
Taylor suffered an ankle problem early in Newcastle's 1-1 draw at Manchester United on Sunday.

The 22-year-old – who was off the pitch receiving treatment when the hosts equalised – played on, and headed to meet up with his international colleagues with James Milner after the game.

But Taylor has returned to Tyneside, having been ruled out of the Under-21 international against Slovenia at Hull by England's medical staff.

Taylor said: "I saw the England club doctor, and after he had examined my ankle we both agreed that it would be too risky to play against Slovenia.

"I had a scan on my ankle and there's nothing broken, or anything like that, and I should be back in training in the next couple of days, and I'll be ready for Bolton."

Taylor is looking forward to developing a partnership with new boy Fabricio Coloccini.

"Fabricio has a lot of experience, and it is up to me to learn from it," said Taylor.
