Sunderland defender Danny Collins feels last season was a success for the Black Cats.
He said: "I think we can look on the season as a success,"

"I know what the gaffer was saying about not being too satisfied with just surviving, but we came up with quite a young team and had to overcome a lot of injuries.

"From a personal point of view, I feel I've progressed during the season and obviously the award from the supporters was the icing on the cake.

"Once you've played so much in a season, you just want a lot more of it and I'll be working hard in pre-season to show I should keep my place."
