An MP has visited a Wearside sorting office to thank staff for their hard work in the run-up to Christmas
Sharon Hodgson, MP for Washington and Sunderland West, visited the Royal Mail Sorting Office in Washington, where she met with management and staff to talk about their work in the lead up to the busy festive season.
The visit followed awareness raising on Monday, 12 December, for National Postal Workers Day, where events were held across the country to recognise the hard work of postal workers on one of their busiest days of the year.
Mrs Hodgson said afterwards: “It is wonderful to visit Washington’s Royal Mail sorting office again this year, and see first-hand the hard work that goes into getting our post from one part of the country to another.
“It is especially important at this time of year when we are posting or receiving gifts and cards for Christmas.
"We owe our postal workers a lot for their hard work to deliver our post, regardless of wind, rain or shine.”
