A driver was taken to hospital with suspected spinal injuries after a collision.
The incident took place earlier this evening near Parsons Industrial Estate, in Washington.
A spokesman for Tyne and Wear Fire and Rescue Service said: "We were called at 5.42pm to assist at a road traffic collision (RTC) on the A194 junction of the A192 near Parsons Industrial Estate, in Washington.
"A fire appliance attended from Birtley Community Fire Station and Washington Community Fire Station.
