Boy, 10, hit by car close to Washington primary school

A ten-year-old boy has been taken to hospital after being knocked down close to a Washington primary school.

The accident happened shortly before 3.30pm today when the boy was hit by a car in Manor Road, Concord, near Usworth Colliery Primary School.

Northumbria Police and the North East Ambulance Service both attended.

The youngster was taken to Gateshead's Queen Elizabeth Hospital, reportedly suffering from 'lower leg injuries.'
