Emeli Sande has scooped another Brit award to add to her collection.

The Sunderland-born artist was the first to collect her award tonight after she won the British Female Solo Artist title for the second time at the ceremony held in London's O2 Arena.

Others the running were Anohni, Ellie Goulding, Lianne La Havas and Nao.

In 2012, she received the Brit Awards' Critics' Choice Award and the following year collected Best British Female Artist, and British Album of the Year.

On collecting her award tonight, she thanked her team and her supporters for "allowing me to make the music I wanted to make and allowing me to express what I felt was important."
