Police investigating an alleged serious sexual assault that happened in the early hours in Sunderland on Wednesday, July 20, are continuing to appeal for witnesses.

The victim, aged 21, had previously left Basement nightclub in Green Terrace in Sunderland with two men.

On Wednesday, August 3, an image of one of the men was released by police and now police are appealing for the second man with him to get in contact as he may be a key witness.

The potential witness is described as white, early 20’s, short fair hair, clean shaven, average build, wearing a white, round-necked T-shirt with ‘Y-3’ in large distinctive dark writing on the front, dark coloured trousers and white trainers.

As part of their enquiries officers have been viewing CCTV and believe they have an image of the man which they may consider releasing.

The man, or anyone who knows who he might be is asked to contact Northumbria Police on 101 quoting reference 138 200716 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
