Readers have been reacting to the news that a supermarket giant will no longer open its Tesco Extra store in Sunderland 24 hours a day.
The store in Newcastle Road, Monkwearmouth, is one of 76 around the country which will reduce their opening hours to 6am to midnight.
Tesco says the rise in online shopping means it doesn't see as many customers in stores overnight.
Here's what you had to say about the news:
David Metcalf: "To be honest there is no need for any supermarket to be open 24 hours. I think it's a waste of money for businesses."
Mike Ollier: "I have been in late on a couple of occasions, and it was empty. I agree, they don't need to be open 24 hours."
Paul Boss Hogg: "My wife and I live very close by. When she finishes work at 22:00, it is more convenient for us to shop then. I/we would prefer it to remain a 24-hour store."
Clair Vineberg: "Shame as often get the shopping in during the night the joy of insomnia. Not a fan of Asda so always been at Tesco. Will just end up driving further."
Jay JungleBoy Banks: "ONLINE SHOPPING!? I don't use online shopping to get my Krispy crème doughnuts after a Friday late shift at 1:00am!"
Deborah Forster: "I work at Morrisons and we are open till 10 at night. Not many people come in late night shopping."
Lesley-Anne Fisher Watson: "Never had a reason to visit a supermarket during the night or ever will have."
Annette Bloxham: "Not surprised, there's always more staff in the aisles than customers."
Ian Phillips: "I shop at 5/6 am when I finish work."
