Julio Arca: An apology
On 24 March 2017 the Sunderland Echo published a defamatory tweet online which incorrectly featured a photograph of former Sunderland and Middlesbrough footballer, Mr Julio Arca.
This was an error. Mr Arca had no connection with this story whatsoever.
The Sunderland Echo unreservedly apologises to Mr Arca and his family for our error and for any upset, embarrassment or damage to his reputation that he has suffered as a result.
We have agreed to compensate Mr Arca and reimburse his legal costs.
