Hundreds turned out in breezy conditions for the Sunderland District Classic Vehicle Society Show. They were treated to vintage and classic vehicles which came to Wearside from all over the country.

There were old ambulances, Ford Zodiacs, a Ford Spitfire, Jaguars and a rare Ford Taunus 20m. Amanda Maskell, from the society’s events team, said: “We have got nearly 250 vehicles here and they are all pre-2000. We were certainly expecting more people than last year when it rained all day and never let up.”

Whole families enjoyed the show at Seaburn yesterday and it was extra special occasion for Amanda, 43, and husband Alex, 41, who were celebrating their 18th wedding anniversary at the show.

Amanda said they chose to be there because “it is a dedicated passion which we both love.”

The hard work starts straight away for next year’s show as organisers booked a date for the 2018 event today.

“There is a lot of work which goes on behind the scenes,” said Amanda.
