Court roundup: Criminal damage, assault and threatening behaviour among cases dealt with in Sunderland

The following cases have been dealt with at Sunderland Magistrates' Court.

Michael Thomson, 35, of Southwick, Sunderland, pleaded guilty to criminal damage to windows and a door, valued at £400, on February 13. He was fined £270 and was told to pay compensation of £350, a surcharge to fund victim services of £27 and costs of £85. A three-year restraining order was imposed in respect of the victim.

Paigin Foster, 21, of Priestley Court, South Shields, pleaded guilty to assaulting a man at South Tyneside General Hospital, on September 27. She was given a conditional discharge for 12 months and was told to pay compensation of £50.

Hayley Eastick, 46, of Padgate Road, Pennywell, Sunderland, pleaded guilty to failing to comply with a red light signal on A1018 North Bridge Street, on July 12, 2015. She was fined £40 and was told to pay a surcharge to fund victim services of £20. Her driving record was endorsed with three penalty points.

Robert Egan, 50, of Broadwood Road, Newcastle, pleaded guilty to producing 18 cannabis plants, of different stages, at an address in Washington, on February 19. He was given a 12-month community order with a drug rehabilitation requirement for six months and up to 15 days of specified activity. He was told to pay a surcharge to fund victim services of £60 and costs of £85.

Marsha Newby, 36, of Presthope Road, Pennywell, Sunderland, pleaded guilty to using threatening or abusive words or behaviour, likely to cause harassment, alarm or distress, on April 6. She was given a conditional discharge for six months and was told to pay a surcharge to fund victim services of £15 and costs of £85.

Dominic Blenkinsopp, 21, of Hollinside Road, Nookside, Sunderland, pleaded guilty to being drunk and disorderly in Holmeside, Sunderland city centre on April 16. He was fined £50 and was told to pay a surcharge to fund victim services of £30 and costs of £85.
