Bridge rescue launched after person climbs over railings

The emergency services helped a person back to safety after they were spotted on the wrong side of a bridge's railings.

The police, Sunderland's Coastguard team and the RNLI's inshore lifeboat was called to the Queen Alexandra Bridge over the River Wear at 4.40am today.

Negotiations were carried out and after an hour the person climbed back to safety.
