Man warned over poaching after dogs disturb birds's nesting site

A poaching letter has been issued to a male who was reported to have been encouraging his dogs into the fenced-off area around the Little Tern nesting site at Crimdon.

The male was spotted by a member of the public, who noted his vehicle registration before he drove off.

A Peterlee Police spokesman said: "Please be aware that the Little Terns are back now in residence at Crimdon, and as such, there are some restrictions in place in order to prevent disturbance in the area.

"There are also dedicated Tern wardens at the new hut near to Pony World if you have any questions or queries about these birds."
