Shoppers hungry for a bargain will have buckets of luck when a new fast food shop opens to customers in the morning.

Years of demand for a KFC in the Seaham area have been answered with a drive-thru restaurant at Dalton Park in Murton as part of its £45million expansion.

The new venue is the first part of the phase two development to be completed, with diners to be welcomed from 10am.

Fifty jobs, offering full and part time roles, have been created by the business, with staff to earn as they learn through its training and development programme.

It will be open seven-days 10am to 11pm, with digital menu boards set up to help visitors.

Julian Kent, area manager of Dalton Park KFC, said: “We can’t wait to open the brand new KFC drive-thru in Dalton Park to local customers.

“The restaurant has all the latest design features including state of the art digital menu boards, wooden beams and hanging light fixtures for a more relaxed atmosphere.”

Diners will be able to take up a place at its “family kitchen table” and comfortable seating areas if they want to take their time over their meal.

The firm says it is always on the look out for more people to add to its staff through its KFC careers website.

The next new business to open on the development is Pizza Express, which is scheduled to open on Thursday, July 21.

The shopping centre will also welcome a Frankie and Benny’s, a Cineworld, a pub, hotel and petrol station.

Morrisons, which has taken on a 25-year lease of a large unit on the former pit site, has previously confirmed it is reviewing its new store plans across its business.

It has not said when a decision would be made on the future of its plans for the building.
