And in the Premier League, his side claimed three wins and three draws from their six meetings.

Newcastle, meanwhile, have won at Ewood Park in successive seasons, their last defeat at the stadium a 5-2 drubbing five seasons ago when Nicos Dabizas was dismissed early in the game.

Allardyce told the Gazette: "Hopefully, my record stays intact in the Premier League, because my record there with Bolton Wanderers from six games was won three and three draws.

"In fact, I've not been defeated at Blackburn for a long time in the league, so I hope they carry that on for me tomorrow."

United's own record at Blackburn has improved after they lost on their first five Premier League visits.

And they will be backed by up to 6,000 travelling fans in the Darwen End as they look for a third successive win at Ewood. Last season Obafemi Martins inspired Newcastle to a 3-1 win, scoring either side of a goal from Steven Taylor.

The previous season United won 3-0, with Michael Owen scoring his first goal for the club, and Allardyce is hoping the backing can inspire his side to another win.

He added: "I don't think we ever got so many supporters going from Bolton to Blackburn, which is just 12 miles down the road."

* Fans can pay on the turnstiles at Ewood Park tomorrow, with admission £20 adults, £10 senior citizens and £7 under-16s.
