YOUNG people will be collecting litter in their community this week.
Members of the West A19 Youth Project, based in Shotton Colliery, will be leading the event on Wednesday evening.
Youth forum members have volunteered to help Durham County Council’s civic pride team and neighbourhood wardens tidy up an area around the community centre.
Pauline Walker, the council’s senior civic pride officer, said: “The young people from the A19 Youth Project are keen to help make their area a nicer, cleaner place to live and it’s fantastic that they are so motivated and enthusiastic.”
The session will follow an environmental talk being held today.
