Running out of time

On June 17, 2011, the Highways Agency, now Highways England, completed the rebuilding of the A19 southbound slip road to the A690 Durham Road roundabout.

Sunderland Council asked the agency to do this so that 6,000 workers at Rainton Bridge Business Park could access it.

As a result of this home owners can claim compensation but the deadline for claims runs out on June 16, 2016.

Putting in a claim is easy and should only take an hour of writing, a simple claim form and a brief description of your concerns. You must have owned the property before June 2011 or inherited it since. So far 50 claims have been made, compensation can be between half and one per cent of property value eg £200,000 property times half per cent is £1,000 compensation.

The claim must be based on physical factors which are noise vibration, smell, fumes, smoke, artificial lighting and the discharge on to property of any solid or liquid substance.

It is likely that your claim will be at a level of the nearest property that has already claimed.
