Poem: Views worth a shout

I love to read the Echo

It’s always full of news

But today’s news isn’t all you get

There’s also loads of views

Take any given subject

That the Echo writes about

We all have different points of view

And think they’re worth a shout

The Echo had an article in

On wonderful Roker pier

It conjured up my memories

Of rods and fishing gear

I felt I had to share my views

With readers of the Echo

I couldn’t keep them to myself

I had to let them go

And so I sent a letter in

To put in the frame

I realise now it couldn’t be

I didn’t add my name

So now I say, belatedly

My pen name’s Durham Jack

I realise if you print it

I’ll get a load of slack

Durham Jack,

Proud to be a Barbary Coaster
