SHADOW Health Minister Andy Burnham has spoken of his sadness at David Moyes leaving his beloved Everton.
Moyes was chosen to replace Sir Alex Ferguson after the Manchester United boss announced he would retire at the end of the season.
Mr Burnham – a devoted Everton fan – was teased by staff at the Healthworks project he was visiting in Easington.
He said: “Don’t mention David Moyes, you’ll make me cry. I’m not happy about that at all.”
Staff also joked that Newcastle boss Alan Pardew had been spotted heading to Everton’s Goodison Park stadium.
Mr Burnham served in a number of prominent Government positions under Gordon Brown, including as Health, Education and Culture Secretary.
He has visited Sunderland officially as a Minister, as well as unofficially to cheer on Everton playing Sunderland at the Stadium of Light.
