Yoda and Barack Obama help Alfie Joey progress on Britain's Got Talent

A County Durham radio presenter is a step closer to making a name for himself on television too.

Alfie Joey, who is one half of the BBC Radio Newcastle breakfast show team Alfie and Charlie, is part of another double act, The Mimic Men.

He and Cal Halbert, 22, are a comedy impressionists, whose subjects are as diverse as Yoda from Star Wars, cartoon characters Scooby-Doo and Shaggy, US President Barack Obama and EastEnders actress Natalie Cassidy.

They appeared on the ITV talent show last night, and got four 'yeses' from judges Simon Cowell, David Walliams, Amanda Holden and Alesha Dixon, to progress to the next stage.

Alfie, 48, from Thornley Colliery, near Peterlee, is a stand-up comedian who has performed all over the world including China, Dubai and Singapore.
