WALKERS will head to the Sunderland coast in aid of poorly children – before sampling football and food.

The World Cup Walk in aid of Grace House Hospice takes place next month on the night England open their campaign in Brazil against Italy.

It is being held as part of Children’s Hospice Week and begins at 7pm on Saturday, June 14, leaving the Stadium of Light and taking in Roker and Seaburn.

After heading back to the stadium, entrants will be able to watch Roy Hodgson’s team face Italy live in the Black Cats Bar, kick-off at 11pm.

Each entrant will receive a meal of either English steak pie and chips or Italian bolognese, and a medal as well as England memorabilia.

Entry is priced at £12 but group organisers of 10 or more will receive their place free.

Participants are encouraged to come along wearing either a football strip, fancy dress or the theme for Children’s Hospice Week, which this year is Superheroes. To register or for more information call Grace House on 525 2885, visit www.gracehouse.co.uk or email info@gracehouse.co.uk.

Hospice fund-raiser Karen Maclennan will be at Sainsbury’s in Silksworth on Thursday, May 29, between 10am and 2pm to speak to those interested in registering.
