FIFTY factory workers had to be evacuated after a blaze tore through a building.
Staff at Washington-based car component manufacturer Faurecia were led out of the blazing building at about 8.30pm yesterday before 28 firefighters arrived at the site.
It is thought a stand-alone foam injection press machine used to make car upholstery had caught alight. The machine was almost destroyed by the fire.
Firefighters remained at the building, on Pattinson Industrial Estate, for about three hours.
The cause of the fire is still being investigated but it is believed to have been accidental.
