A POET will lead two free readings when he visits the region next week.

German Tibor Schneider will be in Durham as part of a literary exchange which has been active since 1987.

Tibor, who is from Tübingen, which is twinned with the city, will also attend Durham Book Festival events.

The readings have been organised by poet Dr Keith Armstrong with the help of Durham County Council as part of its work to support and develop the town-twinning.

He will join poets and artists at The Half Moon Inn from 7pm on Tuesday and at Durham University on Wednesday from 4pm until 5.30pm.

For further details call Dr Keith Armstrong on 252 9531.
