WONDER-MUM Lizzy Hutchinson-Wall is looking forward to her first Mother’s Day with her baby boy.

It has been a tough year for the 27-year-old having spent most of it in and out of hospital with her newborn.

When son Joshua was just a few weeks old, he developed a water infection which turned into a case of serious septicaemia.

Lizzy, of South Hylton, said: “The antibiotics he was taking for the water infection attacked his body bringing on the septicaemia.” For six months Josh was left unwell and in need of medication, until doctors finally gave him the all-clear.

“He’s doing really well and his kidneys are fine,” said Lizzy.

Now, Lizzy has been nominated for the Echo’s I Love Mum competition, which aims to find Sunderland’s top mum in time for Mother’s Day.

She added: “It has been hard work this year, but it’s fantastic to see Joshua doing so well.

“He’s always laughing and smiling now, as well as pulling himself up on all the furniture.”

Lizzy is looking forward to a relaxing Mother’s Day as well as celebrating Joshua’s birthday on April 30.

In his nomination letter Joshua – via his nanny Elizabeth, wrote: “I’m only nine month’s old and in my short life I got septicaemia, was ill for six months but I’m ok now as my mam looked after me all the time. Love her very much and that is why my mam is special.”

The Echo‘s I Love Mum competition aims to find Sunderland’s top mum.

We’ve teamed up with Macdonald Linden Hall Golf and Country Club to offer our winner, and her friend, a fabulous spa day plus lunch for two in the Linden Tree Pub.

If that’s not enough, we’ll also throw in a fabulous box of Continental chocolates, from Thorntons, at Dalton Park.

We want you to email, telling us why your mother is the best in Sunderland.

Perhaps she is tackling an illness with courage, has sacrificed her time to care for a sick relative or friend. Maybe she has overcome obstacles in life or cares for a sick child.

Whatever makes your mum special, we want to hear about it.

Please ensure your email contains:

•Your full name and a daytime/mobile contact number.

•Full details of why your mum should win.
