Woman injured after being hit by car outside Washington primary school

A woman has been taken to hospital after she was hit by a car in Washington.

It happened close to St Bede's RC Primary School, in the Usworth area, after 3pm on Thursday.

Paramedics arrived at the scene to treat the woman before taking her to hospital.

She had suffered "minor injuries".

A spokeswoman for Northumbria Police said: "Police received a report at about 3.30pm on Thursday of a collision between a vehicle and pedestrian in Hampshire Place in Washington.

"Officers attended and a woman was taken to hospital with minor injuries which are not believed to be life-threatening."
