FIRST-class bus travel is about to ride into town.

Go North East has invested £1.2million in a fleet of new buses for its Tyne Tees Xpress services, which pass through East Durham.

From Saturday, customers travelling on board the X9 and X10 express services can access free wi-fi, electric power for phones and laptops and luxury seating.

Regular traveller Oonagh McGee, 29, takes the X10 every day and was invited along to try out the new service.

She said: “The new buses are amazing and have some great features for commuters.”

Martin Harris, commercial director of the travel company, said: “We’re passionate about delivering the best possible services and benefits for customers.

“The investment is part of our on-going commitment to delighting our customers and making us one of the top operators in the UK.”

The company is also inviting passengers to join in the debate about the new service by setting up the hashtag #tyneteesxpress on Twitter.
