Whitburn Singers, part of the Cultural Spring Workshops programme, now meet in Whitburn Methodist Church hall on Tuesdays from 7.15pm-8.45pm. The fun and friendly sessions are led by Lindsay Hannon, from Music in the Minster, and participants can join at any point during the block, which runs until July 12. There will be a performance at Summer Streets on Sunday, July 17. The fee per session is £3 to cover tuition costs and to support the group to become sustainable. South Bents Townswomen’s Guild will support Sunderland Federation coffee morning tomorrow in St Mary’s Church hall, Bridge Street, hosted by Seaham Central Guild. Next Wednesday, May 11, speakers Janet and Lorraine will talk about Dorothy’s Well at the meeting in Whitburn Methodist Church hall at 7pm.
Souter Lighthouse, the gift shop and tea room are open daily from 11am to 5pm. On Sunday from 10.30am to 12.30pm, join Souter Rangers for a Rockpool Ramble, cost £1 per child. The ramble is suitable for children of all ages accompanied by an adult and dogs on leads are welcome. On Friday mornings a new exercise class, Actify, has started in the Barnes Institute at 10am. Actify is a fun way to get fit for those who need to be seated but wish to enjoy low impact exercise and non-intense workouts. It is perfect for beginners, older people and those with mobility problems or recovering from illness or surgery.
