South Bents Townswomen’s Guild Committee will meet tomorrow at 6.30pm in Whitburn Methodist Church hall prior to craft class at 7pm. Next Wednesday, October 28, members will celebrate the Guild’s 49th birthday with dinner in the Sea Hotel, South Shields, at 6.30pm for 7pm.
Souter Lighthouse, including the tearoom and gift shop, is open daily except Fridays from 11am to 5pm this month (open on Friday 30 October) and next. Many half-term activities for take place at various venues in South Tyneside during half-term school holiday week, commencing next Monday. Some activities including athletics and football attract a charge but Activity Express and Lego craft sessions are free. Singing with Music in the Minster, part of the Cultural Spring programme, continues in the Barnes Institute each Tuesday from 7pm to 8.30pm, working towards an informal presentation in December. All ages and abilities are welcome to join any session during the time and there is no need to be able to read music. A voluntary contribution of £2 per session will be welcomed.

A new toddler activity group called The Story Den starts at the Barnes Institute, East Street, on Tuesday, November 3. These will be fun-filled sessions for mums and toddlers with books coming to life through songs, dance, games, art and much more.
