WHAT a bunch of turkeys.

This football team are getting themselves in a flap over a fund-raiser.

Players and family members from Hetton Lyons Bowes team, who train at Hetton Comprehensive, have signed up for this year’s Turkey Trot in aid of St Benedict’s Hospice, Monkwearmouth.

Participants will be dressed as turkeys for the 2k family fun run which will take place around Nissan Sports and Social Club on December 11.

Team manager Paul Vincent said: “We saw the fun run advertised and we thought it would be perfect because a lot of our families have been helped by the hospice.

“The adults are wearing turkey costumes, which we’re really looking forward to, and the kids will be wearing t-shirts with turkeys on. Ro-bal steel fabrications are sponsoring us to do the event but we also have individual sponsor forms.”
