A CLEAR-up will be launched on the banks of the Wear today.
The Big Spring Clean campaign will tackle litter around Durham’s river banks.
The effort is to be led by staff and volunteers from the Durham Cathedral Heritage Woodlands and Riverbanks project, Radisson Blu Hotel and Durham County Council’s civic pride and clean and green teams. Activity will take place between the Sands area to Prebends Bridge.
In addition, the Environment Agency will have teams working in and around the river to remove strewn rubbish and debris.
The event is part of LitterFree Durham’s Big Spring Clean, which is scheduled to run until Sunday.
