DOUBLE Olympic champion Mo Farah will be taking part in this year’s Great North Run.

The 29-year-old is the pride of Britain after storming to victory in the 10,000 metres and 5,000 metres at the London Games.

Now it has been announced that Farah, who won the New York Marathon in 2011, will journey to the North East for the September 16 race.

Farah will have strong competition to win the half-marathon as he competes against former world record holder and running legend Haile Gebrselassie.
